Mr. Stephen Barter - qualified in 1985 from Guys Hospital, London. Following a further period of postgraduate oral surgery and orthodontic training he was awarded the MSurgDent of the Royal College of Surgeons and is a registered Specialist in Oral Surgery. He is a Lecturer and Specialist in the Department of Periodontology, Eastman Dental Institute, University College London. He has 25 years experience in Oral Surgery with 18 years involvement in clinical and academic implant dentistry.

Mr. Barter’s career advancement and experience in complex case management has been achieved through worldwide study, including advanced training at the Straumann Clinic, University of Bern.

Mr. Barter has been established in Eastbourne for over 20 years and set up Perlan Specialist Dental Centre in 2007, bringing together specialist colleagues in other disciplines. He is the Clinical Director of this busy multidisciplinary specialist clinic dealing with implant, prosthodontic and periodontal cases of all levels of complexity His philosophy has always been one of comprehensive planning, combined with empathy to the patients needs.

Mr. Barter also practices at The Esperance Hospital in Eastbourne. He lectures both nationally and internationally and regularly presents at major international conferences. His work is also published in both scientific journals and the dental press.

Interests: sinus surgery and computer-guided surgery

Fellow of the International Team for Implantology (ITI).

Michael Heffernan qualified from Guy’s Hospital in 1990. He subsequently spent two years in hospital training in maxillofacial surgery and went on to work in private general practice in London. In 1997 Michael enrolled in a three-year full-time Masters Degree Program at the University of Iowa (USA) in Fixed, Removable and Implant retained Prosthodontics. He performed valuable research into the Translucency of All-Ceramic Systems for which he won the prestigious John J. Sharry Prosthodontics Research Prize from the American College of Prosthodontists (2001). He was then awarded a scholarship at the University of Florida in a dedicated implant fellowship provided by the International Team of Oral Implantology (ITI).

Michael returned to the UK in 2002. He is registered as a Specialist Prosthodontist with the General Dental Council. He is a Fellow of International Team for Implantology (ITI), a member of the Association of Osseointegration, a member of the British Dental Association and Hon and a Member of the American Dental Society of London

Natalie Woodlock Natalie first qualified in dentistry from Guys, Kings & St. Thomas’ Dental Institute in 1999. Since then she has gained extensive experience in a variety of settings. These have included general practice, community dentistry, oral surgery, and providing dental care for the staff of Unilever.

In 2001 she was successful in achieving Membership of the Faculty of Dental Surgeons from the Royal College of Surgeons.

Whilst working as a Senior House Officer in Restoative Dentistry, she developed an interest in periodontology.

She completed the four year part-time specialist training programme at King’s College London. She was successful in gaining a Master of Science in Periodontology, and went on to gain further expertise in the subject achieving the Master of Clinical Dentistry in Periodontics and the Membership in Restorative Dentistry to become a Specialist in Periodontics.

Natalie limits her practice to periodontics.
